AMR ALL ART Index

ALL ART INDEX
AMR has created a brand new index to track price movements across the International Art Market. By selecting a large sample of 10,000 artists, whose paintings and drawings have been sold around the world, the All Art captures a significant share of the auction market by value (average value of artworks for each artist is above £5,000). The index is updated monthly.

ALL ART INDEX  / ARTIST RANKING

As well as ‘Artist Price’, AMR takes the number of lots sold by each artist into consideration in order to calculate a ranking list. The first 100 artists are ranked below. The number on top indicates the current position and the number in brackets indicates the previous month’s position.

FAQs
Why was the ALL ART Index created?
The phenomenal growth of the global art market over the last decade has fuelled great interest in prices of art. Recording these prices since 1975, AMR’s simple index methodology lends itself to to measuring market sentiment. As such, the All Art provides a benchmark for the Art market as a whole and the historic prices can be compared with indices such as the S&P 500 and others.
How is the ALL ART index calculated?

An ‘Artist Price’ is calculated for all artists in AMR’s database. The results are ordered so artists are ranked from high to low. The top 10,000 artists are grouped together and the sum calculated each month. The index is then re-based in 1976. See ‘All Art’ in Methodology for more information.
